OUR EQUIPMENT
Cameras & Recording Formats
Our studio currently has 2 Panasonic HVX200 HD video cameras capable of recording 1080P in DVCPRO50 format. Smooth slow motion can be achieved with up to 50fps recording in PAL mode. We have multiple P2 recording cards & an external Firestore firewire drive for long shoots.
As a second option we shoot on a Canon 550D DSLR which allows us to be a lot more unobtrusive and mobile which is great if we want to go handheld amoungst the action! The camera records to 16gb SD cards at 1080p using the h.264 codec. We currently shoot a lot with the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for wide angle shots and 50mm & 24mm primes for more standard shooting.
The 'Film' Look
For shoots that require a bit more of a cinematic touch we can add our SGPro 35mm adapter with a range of Nikon prime lenses. This unit allows us to mount slr lenses onto the camera to achieve a variation of focal lengths and greater depth of field which mimics the look of film rather than video. We now have a follow focus unit which can be mounted to either the HVX200 or the Canon 550D to ensure smooth, precise focusing.
Monitoring & Stabilization
We use an 8" Ikan HD LCD to monitor our images ensuring professional framing, great colours and sharp focusing. A Varizoom focus/iris/zoom controller is available and can be mounted to our DVRig-Pro support bracket for maximum comfort on a long days shoot. We have also recently invested in a 1 meter Glidetrack which is a portable dolly system for our cameras, which gives us the ability to get great smooth tracking shots on the run.
Lighting It Up
We supply a full 3-point 800w redhead lighting kit on your shoot to light the scene, with blue gels to balance the light to daylight. We also use 2x 750w softbox lights which give a nice natural soft light for closeups and interviews in particular. We can hire extra lighting for night shoots if required.
Sounding Off
Finally for sound we have a Rode Shotgun Mic which can be boom mounted for professional sound recording or mounted to the camera for 'on-the-run' style filming. We also have a Sennheiser Wireless Mic kit which is brilliant for documentaries, interviews and general outdoors shooting.
Our Studio System
Our studio is kitted out with an Apple MacBook Pro 15" and an Intel QuadCore editing system running Windows 7 and the latest Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere, After Effects & Photoshop.
